Garnering 1151 points, the School of Technology was declared 6th place overall in Pahampang 2011 last September 3, 2011.

Spearheaded by the University Student Council,  Pahampang is held yearly to develop and enhance the leadership, camaraderie and sportsmanship among nine academic organizations and Ugyon, competing in sports, creative and intellectual events. The academic organizations included the Clovers, Elektrons, Fisheries, Magnates, Redbolts, Scions, Skimmers, SOTECH, and Tycoons.

Eliminations for the major and minor games were held last August 13-14 and 20-21. Categorized as major games for both men and women were basketball, volleyball, football and softball; badminton, lawn tennis and table tennis composed the minor games.

Pahampang officially opened on August 31 at the UPV Covered Court. The most awaited cheering competition highlighted the opening. It was the toughest cheering competition ever, showcasing the hard work and creativity of participating groups. The participation of Ugyon, which rarely participated in cheering in the past, made it more exciting. The collaboration between the upperclassmen and freshmen bore fruit with the SOTECH cheering team garnering 5th place and Norman Earl Tubid, 3rd year BS ChE student, declared 2nd best cheerleader.

In the past, SOTECH fared poorly in the Literary Musical event but this year, with the combined efforts of everyone, it ended 3rd place overall in the LitMus. SOTECH was awarded 1st place in the a capella category, with its very unique musical arrangement and exceptional performance. In Poetry in Motion, the school’s team landed in the 5th place.

SOTECH made it to the top five teams in some major, minor and special events. These included: 1st  place in sports quiz; 2nd place in badminton (women), softball (men), lawn tennis (women); 3rd place in table tennis (women), marathon (men), chess (men), extemporaneous speech, essay writing, impromptu dayalogo; 4th place in basketball (women), football (women), badminton (men), swimming, table tennis(men), lawn tennis (men), chess (women); and fifth place in volleyball (women), marathon( women), oration.

With these achievements and with the cooperation of the SOTECH family, the School of Technology is hoping to be part of the top five teams in the next Pahampang. ■
